‘From Little Acorns Oak Trees Grow’

Swimming

We are pleased to let you know that swimming will start again after half term and will continue for as long as restrictions allow.

All classes will have two weeks of swimming before the swimming stops in December as usual for Christmas focused activities. Oak, Sycamore and Chestnut will swim the first two weeks (weeks commencing 2/11/2020 and 9/11/2020) and Beech, Maple, Cherry and Ash will swim during the weeks commencing 16/11/2020 and 23/11/2020.

Swimming will then start again in the January with Beech, Maple, Cherry and Ash swimming the first half term, and Oak, Sycamore and Chestnut the second half term. The days the classes will be swimming are as follows:

Oak Tuesday

Beech Tuesday

Cherry Monday

Maple Thursday

Chestnut Thursday

Ash Wednesday

Sycamore Wednesday

Please note that no kit will be allowed to be borrowed; this includes swimming kit, towels and goggles. Please ensure your child has their kit in school on the correct days.

The last swimming group will be collected directly from the pool. If your child is in this group, you will get a parentmail or text to remind you to pick them up from the pool rather than the classroom.

The pool will be cleaned between private users and the school using it, and strict risk assessments have been put in place to make sure everyone is safe.

The cost for your child to swim for the rest of this year is £22 and is available to pay on parentmail now.

We are very fortunate that we have a pool on site and the children here at Knights Templar benefit from it considerably. They have greater access to regular swimming and the bonus is that we do not have to provide transport to get the children to their swimming lesson as most other schools do which would incur a greater cost for parents/carers.

The cost of running the pool is significant, even with the public hiring it out including other schools in the area. We also provide expert tuition and this ensures that the children are helped to develop swimming as a life skill which is essential living in a coastal town. The swimming pool is currently running at a deficit, as there were still ongoing costs to pay during the lock down period when no money was coming in. We need your support in paying this to make sure we can continue to keep the swimming pool maintained and available to use.
