“Be the best they can be, with a thirst for learning,
a zest for living and a spirit of kindness.”
Our Adventurers and Mariners room is a large light and airy room set out in different learning zones. It has an adjoining cosy/sensory room, which is ideal for naps and sharing stories. The outdoor provision has different areas: a large fenced all-weather decking, grass with lots of space to be active and explore and a fenced off area with a mud kitchen and planting beds. There is access to the school field and wildlife area, which is great for running, bug hunting and investigating.
Within the room, we have two age groups. The majority of the children are turning three during the academic year (Adventurers) and the others are our older two year olds (Mariners). We find that this works really well as the younger children learn so much from being with their older peers and it especially helps to support their speech, language and communication development.
Each child has a key person who will support and track your child’s progress and then work alongside you to decide on the next steps of support that your child needs to progress in their development
Being two is not easy – You want to be independent but you cannot all of the time – You have so much to say but do not always have the words to communicate. Our room and daily routine provides support in all areas of their development.
