Letter from the Chair of Governors, Liz Murphy
Knights Templar Governing Body
Welcome to Knights Templar Church of England/ Methodist Community First School. The school is at the heart of the community of Watchet. We all want your child to be happy at our school and we aim to give every child an excellent start to education, and provide a warm and safe environment in which each individual can learn and grow.
The Governors who make up the Board all live within the community. The majority have been appointed through St Decuman’s Church or the Methodist Church, others are parents, teachers and other interested community members.
Our job is to be the team that manages the school, together with the Headteacher. We meet together 6 times a year as a fullgoverning body and also have committees which meet twice a term : Finance & Staffing, Curriculum & Standards and Environment & Community. These help to inform the strategic decisions we make about the school together with our regular visits to the school and the classrooms. Individual governors also take on special roles in school, such as Literacy and Numeracy governors, and help to monitor the progress that all the children make.
We hope to be welcoming and approachable and are always willing to listen to any ideas or thoughts or comments you may wish to make about the school. It is vital that we all communicate together because we all care about the wellbeing of your children.
I am often in school and you can get in touch with me via the school office.
Liz Murphy
Chair of Governors
