Dancing Club
The Country
Dancing Club meets after school usually early in the Spring to practice
a full selection of country dances. The children from Years Two,
Three and Four learn a wide variety of dances and some even practice
the complicated May Pole dances.
The club is usually in big demand and is regularly requested to
perform at the school's May Fayre, Halsway Manor, Area Sports, for
Senior Citizens, and even on a cold winters night for the Traders
of Watchet on the Esplanade.

| Cross
Country
The school,
has held several sessions in Key Stage 2 for the pupils who wish
to do long distance running. A very popular event the school had
28 pupils turn up to the first practice a brilliant response to
such an activity.
Eventually the school had a team to run in the West Somerset Trial,
and surpisingly the boys came first with seven positions in the
first ten. A special mention to Elliot Scott who came first. The
girls put up a good show to come third with Megan Penfold, only
a Year3, coming 4th overall - Well Done.
Elliot, Megan, Nial Milton, Declan Paterson, Cameron Sanford, AND
Nigel Bremner were chosen to run at the Somerset County Trials at
Montecute, Yeovil.

| Gymnastics
Gymnastic Club
is held at the end of the school year and is popular with KS2 boys
and girls. The club does not follow the BAGA awards but is more
of a display nature (especially in the box work ) with diving forward
rolls, tanks, short arm overswings, head springs, etc. The children
usually give a full display of their newly found skills and courage
at the end of summer term in front of the school and interested
parents.

| Indoor Football
The indoor
football club has trained nearly every week from September to March.
So many pupils have attended this year that the sessions have been
split into two some with Mr Woollam some with Miss Stedman.
The matches are held on Fridays, after school, against Old Cleeve,
St, Peters Williton, and Stogumber. Despite being only 5 aside the
school has played 35 children this season, boys and girls, with
the preference to the Year Four pupils. The gala at the end of the
season included Dunster, Minehead, St Michaels-Minehead, Porlock,
Timberscombe, and Cutcombe. Our better players played very well
during the season, the A Team only losing once in around 50 matches.
No prizes to winners all the players played for the fun and enjoyment
of the matches.

| Swimming
The school
is highly successful in its attempt to teach nearly all of its children
to swim, a 99% success rate with pupils who commence their schooling
in Watchet, very important as we live by the sea. The school has
some excellent clubs who hold training sessions after school (names
and telephone numbers available in the office) but the school offers
a full coaching programme from reception age onwards. Probably the
school is amongst the best in the country.
In 2006 the school did a sponsored swim, and swam the length of
the Bristol Channel, with all the children being included. The school
holds a Year Four Swimming Gala late in the summer term , the winners
having their name placed on the Honours Board.
This year a team swam at the Minehead Swimathon, a competition they
have won many times, and hopefully the school will organise another
long distance target - English Channel?
Swimming is
especially important for children living by the sea
(The School Pool is used seven days a week
)

| Drama Club
The school
has an active Drama Club which meets in the Spring and Summer Term.
The club gives the pupils the chance to enthuse over drama while
the club has already given small productions of 'Oliver', always
a favourite in the school, and the local play of Queen Caturn, a
queen who visited Watchet several centuries ago searching for a
garment in Watchet Blue (made from wortleberries OFF THE Quantocks).
The club is primarily for Key Stage 2, although space is sometimes
available for Year 2 and is taken by Mr Peter Stevenson

| Catchball
Club
Catchball is
a game that is a simpler version of netball and basketball. The
game originally started for the girls in the area but is so popular
the boys now play with the girls. The club, organised by Mrs Anne
Turner and Miss Stedman, practice in the summer term and then play
Friday evening matches against local schools such as Old Cleeve
and St Peters (Williton ).

| Small
Games Club
The Small Games
Club meets on a regular basis at lunchtimes in the ICT Room under
the supervision of Mrs Heywood. The children have a choice of either
chess, draughts or even snakes and ladders in this very popular
club. Beginners are always taught the basic rules and manoeuvres
to enable the games to take place while the more advanced are ready
for the supreme Russian Champions.

| Gardening
Club
A small group
of gardeners from Years three and Four meet with Mr and Mrs Carslake
weekly throughout the year. The Key Stage Two club has had many
successes from establishing a fully stocked pond and viewing platform
, redesigning the flower bed on the roundabout, to growing large
amounts of fruit and vegetables from its own allotment on the far
field. The club even has its own embroidered gardening overalls.
