The Two Churches

The School is linked to two churches. The Methodist Church in Watchet and St Decimens Church of England.

An invitation to St.Decuman's, Watchet Parish Church

Decuman was a Celtic monk who brought Christianity to Watchet in the 7th Century. The church was built in 1198 and today everyone in the town is most welcome to our service every Sunday morning at 10am. Knights Templar children can join the 'Junior Church' which meets at the beautiful Holy Cross Chapel (above the Town Museum) at 9.45am on Sundays. Older children can join "TOFSS" (Too Old For Sunday School !). Contact Mollie Clinton on 631578 to find out more!

The loving Creator of all that exists, loves every person on this planet of every faith or of none; indeed God loves us all equally. Those who realize this are drawn to respond with joy through worship. We all know restlessness, anxiety and suffering in our lives. Choosing to be a present day follower of Jesus Christ does not lead to an easier life, but we can know an inner peace and joy when we put God at the centre and not ourselves. You can go it alone in turning to God at any time, but it is better with the support, love and care of others on this life-long pilgrimage: A welcome awaits you at St.Decuman's and it is my privilege to offer you my support at whatever stage you are on in your faith journey. Anyone may be baptised, married or have their funeral at St.Decuman's and everyone is warmly invited to worship with us. I am happy to visit you at any time.

The Church of England exists to serve the town in the same way as Knight's Templar School exists for children of all faiths or of none. There can be no "second class" children in our School or Church. You are always welcome!

The Methodist Church

The first school of any size in Watchet began in the schoolrooms of the Methodist Chapel in 1872, the present Methodist Church building having been erected in 1871 to meet the growing needs of the people of Watchet. Methodists have been present in the town since 1776. The building occupies a very prominent place on Harbour Road, opposite the railway station, and stands as a centre of worship and witness to the love of God. Inside the church it is very beautiful, with dark shining wood and red carpet; the worship area in the church was partitioned in 1999 in order to create an attractive entrance foyer, and in 2002 a lift was installed to make the Church accessible to those who are less able. We have a Sunday School which meets each Sunday morning at 10.15am - and all children are welcome to come and learn more about the love of God for them. Parents too are warmly invited to come along to our services which are at 10.30am each Sunday morning. Have you ever wondered what goes on here? Why not come and see?

Monday mornings during term time there is Tea, Toast and Time out, especially for parents, between 10.30am and 12. Saturday mornings 10 - 11.30am coffee in the Schoolroom.

Women's meeting meets on 2nd Thursday of the month between October and April.

For all other activities, please see the notice board outside the church.

The church and its buildings are used by a number of community groups and we are very pleased to welcome a Roman Catholic congregation each Saturday at 5.45 pm when a celebration of Mass takes place.
When Watchet County Primary and St. Decuman's schools joined forces to become Knights Templar School in 1987 an Anglican-Methodist voluntary aided school scheme was established and as a result both churches work happily together to provide Christian support in school by taking assemblies, attending other functions and serving on the board of Governors.
